TRS, MIM slam Modi govt for nod to free Bilkis rape convicts

Hyderabad : TRS working president and IT ministerKT Rama Rao and AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi have slammed the BJP government at the Centre for its role in release of 11 convicts in Bilkis Bano rape case. Bilkis was gang-raped and seven of her family, including her three-year-old daughter were killed during the Gujarat riots in 2002.

“Shocking!! All along it was reported that the Gujarat government released the ‘Sanskari Rapists’. Turns out it is the Union govt that actually approved this! Shameful and repulsive. Letting out rapists and childkillers just for political gains is a new low even by the very low BJP standards (sic),” tweeted KTR.

While Owaisi said: “Bilkis Bano’s rapists were released early after approval from Amit Shah’s ministry. These men were guilty of brutal rape and murder. A three-yearold’s head was smashed with a rock. They were killed only because they were Muslims. For BJP, no crime is too grave if the victims are Muslims. ”

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will hear on November 29 the pleas challenging the remission of sentence and release of 11 convicts.
