Second longest flyover in Hyderabad to be ready by March 2023

Adding to the long list of infrastructural achievements that have earned the city a name across the country, Hyderabad will soon get its second longest flyover, stretching over 4.048 kilometres on the Aramghar to Nehru Zoological Park route. Currently, the 11.6km PVNR Expressway is the longest flyover not just in the city, but also in the country.

The upcoming bi-directional six-lane flyover, which is being built under the State government's ambitious Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at an estimated cost of Rs 636.80 crore, is expected to be thrown open to the public by March 2023.

"The flyover will be very useful to scores of commuters in the Old City and also to people visiting the Zoo Park," said Somesh Kumar, who was accompanied by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and other officials.

Once the facility is made available to people, traffic congestion at five major junctions is expected to be eased, GHMC officials said.

"Darul Uloom, Shivrampally, Shastripuram, Hassan Nagar and Kalapathar -Tadbund are the five junctions where traffic conditions will improve in a major way. In addition to these places, traffic congestion will also ease at smaller junctions on the Aramghar to Nehru Zoological Park stretch," said Dattu Panth, GHMC superintending engineer, Projects Wing (Charminar Zone).
