Nation is watching ECI’s partisan behaviour: KTR

Hyderabad : TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Election Commission was reading the script written by others. “The country is watching how EC is functioning,” he added. He was commenting on the EC allowing ‘car’ lookalike symbols in the Munugode byelection the alleged transfer of money by BJP candidate Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy’s firm.

“The EC was supposed to release assembly poll notifications for Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat together. While HP notification was released, Gujarat was not issued as PM Narendra Modi wanted to tour his home state and set issues right,” KTR claimed.

“EC had taken action against the previous returning officer of Munugode, Jagannatha Rao, on the road roller symbol being removed, but action should be taken against EC Telangana in-charge in Delhi, who allowed a symbol which was removed by EC a few years ago,” KTR said at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday.

On the alleged transfer of ₹5. 22 crore by Raj Gopal Reddy’s firm to various accounts, the minister said EC gave a clean chit to the BJP nomineesaying it was his son’s firm. “If KCR is fighting an election, KTR transfers money to some individuals in the wake of the poll, one should believe that both KTR and my father are different and have nothing to do with transfer of money,” KTR said.

He said ECI might have given clean chit to Raj Gopal Reddy over the money transfer episode, but ultimately people’s certificate was needed in a democracy. On I-T searches on minister G Jagadish Reddy’s personal assistant’s house on Monday night, KTR said the party was not scared of investigation agencies like CBI.
