Hyderabad startup launches foldable e-bicycle
Hyderabad: An e-bicycle that not only helps with your daily commuting needs but can also be folded to conveniently carry has been rolled out by a Hyderabad-based startup. Branded as Hornback, the folding electric bicycle is designed by founders of Kachbo Designs – Nishith Praikh and Rajkumar Kewat.
Telangana IT and Industries principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan launched the electric bicycle on Sunday here. Following the launch of the e-bicycle, he appreciated the innovation and creativity of the team and spoke about including ‘e-bicycles’ into the Telangana E Vehicle Policy. He also encouraged the Hyderabad-based young entrepreneurs to establish a full-fledged manufacturing unit for Hornback in Telangana in the near future.
The e-bicycle can go at reasonably high speeds required for urban commuting and the battery can be swapped with ease which makes it ready-to-go. In its folded state, it takes less than half the space of a regular bicycle and can be conveniently wheeled into all forms of public transport, and can be fit in car boots or elevators with ease.
Kacho co-founder Nishith Parikh said the electric cars cost 160 times more to charge them than the regular e-bike and cost 18 times more per km to ride. E-bike occupies 10 per cent of the space that any regular car does.
