Cong’s future at stake, have to win Munugode: Priyanka

Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Monday directed senior leaders to stop the BJP from occupying Congress space in Telangana by taking the Munugode bypoll ‘very seriously.’

“Put all your efforts to win the Munugode bypoll as it is crucial for the future of the Congress too. Do not allow the BJP to settle in. Set aside the differences and work collectively to win the bypoll. I will give as much time as you all want to strengthen and bring Congress to power in Telangana,” Priyanka is believed to have told the TPCC top leaders after giving 10 minutes each to them to speak to her individually and later addressing them together in Delhi.

She also asked the party leaders to finalise the candidate for the bypoll in consultation with important leaders from the combined Nalgonda district and Munugode constituency and announce the name by this month-end.

Sources said Priyanka is playing a bigger role in the Congress and has been meeting leaders from almost all the states and not
just Telangana. With Rahul Gandhi not keen on taking over as AICC president and all set to go on a nation-wide ‘Bharat Jodo
Yatra’ soon, Priyanka is expected to play a bigger role in the party.

Hereafter, she will continue to focus on Telangana where the Congress has revived in rural areas and has bright prospects if
leaders work collectively as a team, on which she insisted, a senior AICC leader said.
