14 PMs borrowed ₹56L Cr, Modi ₹100L Cr: KTR
Hyderabad : Levelling 17 charges, including unkept promises, failures of the Centre and injustice to Telangana, against the Modi government ahead of the Munugode bypoll, TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday released a chargesheet against BJP.
He said BJP miserably failed the country, right from dip in the rupee value to increasing borrowings.
KTR appealed to the voters of Munugode to reject the “Juta Jhumla BJP’ in the Munugode assembly bypoll to be held on November 3.
“Fourteen Prime Ministers before Narendra Modi had borrowed about ₹55. 97 lakh crore, while Narendra Modi-led BJP government alone ran up a debt of ₹100 lakh crore in just eight years,” KTR, who is also minister for industries and municipal administration, said after releasing the chargesheet at Telangana Bhavan here.
BJP leaders have released a chargesheet against the K Chandrasekhar Raoled TRS government a couple of days ago. Countering the saffron party move, the pink party has released its own chargesheet, touching upon various issues like fluoride problem, weavers’ issue, ST reservation, BC census, farmers’ issue and proposed power reforms.
“We are filing the chargesheet in the people’s court on behalf of various sections of society. The Centre had not released any funds to Telangana in the past eight years and won’t give anything in future also. TRS is seeking votes in the by-election by showcasing developments since 2014. We are also telling the people, what we will do for Munugode. On the contrary, BJP is resorting tostatements with personal abuses and disregarding TRS, including chief minister,” KTR said.
The TRS had addressed the fluoride problem in Munugode, while BJP has not set up fluoride and fluorosis mitigation centre, 300-bed hospital at Marriguda apart from denying financial assistance to Mission Bhagiratha scheme despite Niti Aayog recommended it, he said. The TRS working president said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written off corporate loans worth ₹11. 5 lakh crore and even suggesting to the states to discontinue welfare schemes.
With increasing fuel prices — petrol, diesel, gas cylinder prices — prices of all essential commodities were sky rocketing and women were facing problems, he added. In the 13-page charge sheet, the party said many promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, including setting up a steel plant at Bayyaram, rail coach factory and tribal university, were not fulfilled. KTR also accused Modi of adopting anti-farmer policies and the latest being asking the states to fix meters to agriculture pumpsets to end free power to the farming community.
